The Challenge
Brioche has become one of the golden children of the bread aisle, but many brands continue to draw from the same visual playbook.
Traditional typography, bakery-inspired styling and heritage storytelling have become category shorthand for quality. The challenge is that when enough brands follow the same formula, products begin to blur together.
Three Bakers already had a quality product and a growing customer base. What it needed was a stronger brand identity and more effective food packaging design to better reflect the quality of the product, improve shelf presence and help the range stand out in an increasingly competitive retail marketplace.
The challenge wasn’t to reinvent the product. It was to create a packaging system that could work harder for the brand, communicate key information more clearly and create a stronger first impression at shelf.

The Insight
When a category starts looking in the same direction, the biggest opportunity is often looking somewhere else.
The more we explored the category, the more apparent it became that many brands were saying the same thing, in much the same way. Similar packaging concepts, similar messaging and similar design cues had become shorthand for quality.
The problem was that when everyone follows the same formula, distinction disappears. Brands lose their competitive edge and consumers are left with little reason to choose one product over another.
Rather than adding more claims, more messaging or another layer of bakery theatre, we saw an opportunity to simplify.
Brioche is one of those rare food products that does a lot of the hard work itself. Rich, golden and indulgent, the product already had strong appeal. Our role was to bring those qualities to the surface and create a stronger connection between the product and the brand.

The Creative Solution
We developed a product-led packaging design solution built around visibility, recognition and appetite appeal.
At the heart of the identity sits a distinctive Three Bakers brand mark, creating an ownable asset that can support future product ranges and new products as the business continues to grow.
The packaging was deliberately product-led. Large transparent windows allowed the brioche itself to become the hero, showcasing the colour, texture and quality of the product rather than hiding it behind layers of design.
Warm bakery-inspired colours, bold typography and a clear information hierarchy helped create a packaging system that feels both premium and approachable, while improving shelf presence across the range.
The result is a food packaging design solution that feels familiar enough to belong within the category, while giving Three Bakers a more distinctive and memorable place within it.

The Result
Since launching the new packaging, Three Bakers has reported a significant increase in year-on-year sales, leading to the rollout of additional products across the range.
While great packaging is only one part of the equation, the project reinforced the role FMCG packaging design can play in building recognition, increasing perceived value and helping brands earn attention in competitive retail environments.

Why Packaging Matters
In fast moving consumer goods, packaging is often the first interaction customers have with a brand. Long before a product is experienced, packaging creates first impressions, communicates key information and shapes perceived value.
For food and beverage products, effective packaging design is one of the most important touch points between brands and consumers. It influences how products are understood, how they compare against competitors and whether they earn a place in the basket.
As a packaging design agency, we believe the most successful packaging doesn’t simply look different. It creates clear communication, builds recognition and helps brands establish a meaningful connection with their target audience.
For Three Bakers, that meant resisting the temptation to add more claims, more decoration or another layer of bakery storytelling. Instead, we focused on making the product the hero and creating a packaging system that felt confident, distinctive and easy to navigate.
Whether we’re working on new brands, new products or refreshing an existing range, our packaging design process focuses on creating practical solutions that balance creativity with commercial outcomes. By combining brand identity, packaging expertise and a deep understanding of retail environments, we help clients create stronger shelf presence and a platform for future growth.
